DER TIGER VON ESCHNAPUR

Spielfilm, Germany 1938

First part of the two-part film adaptation of Thea von Harbou's novel "Das indische Grabmal". The lavish adventure film centers on a dramatic love triangle: Chandra, the Maharajah of Eshnapur, lives happily with his wife Sitha. But when Sitha's former lover Sascha from Germany shows up at the palace, the rekindled passion between the two gives rise to vicious intrigue. Prince Ramagani, who is secretly planning a coup d'état, uses the opportunity to turn the Maharaja against Sascha and Sitha. Both flee around the world to Berlin, constantly pursued by Chandra and his entourage.
